stars, stripes and Wii boxing

I celebrated July 4th in true American style today. Hamburgers, apple pie, fireworks all topped off with some Wii boxing was how it all went down. We went to the Throndsons with the Swabs and their friend Jen. It was decided that we would go to the recommended park in for the town’s firework display… this photo above was it. Pretty, huh? Colorado is technically desert, and this shows that fairly well. Everyone is good to water their lawn and the town is generally lush and green, but this park we visited tonight wasn’t. It made for some good laughs.

This is Chris waiting for the fireworks to start, sitting in one of our posh new lawn chairs purchased specifically for the occasion. (And yes, although the road behind us was lined with cars and people watching the fireworks, we were the only ones occupying this expanse of earth.) It was fairly comical.

This is Tate, showing us how dinner is done. ;)

We did have to give up our Friday tradition of a Chipotle burrito this week, but the burgers were good. I’m told we are to eat American food on July 4th. Anything less would be frightfully unpatriotic.

There’s something about small-town fireworks… It’s not a big something, but it’s always nice to enjoy.

Chris and Nathan going at each other with the Wii boxing. This was the first time Chris and I had used the Wii, and we had fun!
