halloween afternoon with bob and myrna
Last week we were the happy recipients of a fabulous two feet of snow so it only made sense to spend a Saturday afternoon taking advantage of it. Bob and Myrna were so much fun! The weather was warm enough to spend time sledding at their place, but chilly enough to fill up on hot chocolate (and strawberry cheesecake ;). We blazed the snow-covered trails through the land and only got a bit covered with mud…
What a great farewell to October! (more…)

giving thanks for a lovely thanksgiving
Monday was a fantastic day of cooking and visiting with new friends. This was the first time I’ve cooked a turkey and it turned out better than I had expected. I made American sweet potato casserole and green bean casserole, my mom’s traditional stuffing, pumpkin pies, and (of course) my zucchini chocolate cake. We had such a great evening and I was happy with a successful Thanksgiving dinner.

brady has a sister
…her name is Molly. She is beautiful, she grunts, and she sleeps with her eyes half open. What a doll! I’ve only seen her awake for about three and a half minutes through the entire month of her little life, but soon she’ll be running around the house with her brother.
I spent the morning with these sweet kids and always enjoy photographing them. Thanks for the turkey, Joelle ;) (more…)
the perfect cup of chocolate
I’ve been trying really hard to keep junk food out of the house lately. Most of the time it works in our favor to have to reach for healthy options when the cravings hit, but sometimes you just need that little bit of guilty pleasure. Soooooo when I was looking for dessert this evening, the only thing my search yielded was a half bag of chocolate chips. This might at first seem like a small victory for my sweet tooth, but having the perfect cup of chocolate hit the spot beautifully.
Here is my recipe from this evening’s perfect cup:
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup cream
2 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
Melt the chocolate chips in a saucepan on medium heat, whisking until smooth (be very careful not to burn the chocolate!). Increase heat to medium-high and add cream, milk and vanilla. Continue whisking until hot chocolate begins to steam.
For a lower fat option, substitute milk for the cream. If you only have semi-sweet or unsweetened chocolate, add sugar until the chocolate is as sweet as desired. Don’t forget- add sugar, NOT an artificial sweetener!

new look, new items
I am so excited to show off my shop’s new look! My serger is still being repaired, so I’ve posted some crocheted items from last fall and added new ones too. Chris and I were up late last night taking new photos and I love them. My plan is to sell some of the crocheted pieces I still have before I get my sewing machine back and fill my shop with dresses.
Click here to see my shop, I’d love to know what you think!
