it’s a hot toddy kind of night

hot toddy

I love mulled drinks. Allspice and cinnamon smell smell like winter to me, and winter is my favorite season. It’s -11 C° outside, so I made hot toddy tonight and let it soak into my bones.

2 fluid ounces boiling water
1 teaspoon honey
1 pinch ground nutmeg
1.5 fluid ounces whiskey
1 cinnamon stick
3 whole cloves
1 slice lemon
1 pinch ground allspice

Pour the water, honey, and nutmeg into a mug and stir until honey is dissolved. Add whiskey, cinnamon stick, cloves and lemon. Sprinkle with allspice and let sit for about five minutes before drinking.
