Potato and Steve

birthday boys

This is Starfleet Commander Potato 5000 and Steve. Their birthdays were a few months ago, but I wanted to give a mention to the agency we adopted them from. I contacted the Chihuahua and Small Dog Rescue of Colorado a few years ago looking for a puppy, and we immediately fell in love with Potato (on the left), and welcomed him into our family. We spent a fun-filled year with him before when we got a call from the lady I had worked with at the adoption agency. She asked if we would consider a second dog because Potato’s brother (Steve) was in a loving home, but the family had to give him up because of some allergy issues. The family had small children and were all devastated to have to give him to another home, but we have kept in touch with them and they often keep the dogs for us when we go out of town. We were more than happy to take Steve and it didn’t take long for him to get used to our routine and fit right in.

These brothers are best buds, and they have brought us more laughter and playtime than we ever imagined. They rough and tumble, but more than anything they love to cuddle next to anyone warm who will let them. They aren’t super jazzed about having their photo taken while wearing party hats, but they’re good sports and were richly rewarded for their patience.

The staff at the Chihuahua and Small Dog Rescue were so wonderful to work with, and the adoptions went smoothly and without any complications. It is clear to see that they love each and every dog that comes into their care, and they only want the best homes for them. If you live in Colorado and are looking for a small dog that will change your life- I highly recommend them! Thanks so much to Pat who processed our adoption, and to all of the other wonderful people who are working to place these dogs into loving homes.
